How to Pack Fragile Items Like a Pro

One of the biggest fears during a move is opening a box to find broken glass or shattered heirlooms. As a professional moving company, we've mastered the art of packing fragile items. Here are our top tips to ensure your valuables arrive intact.

Use the Right Materials

Don't skimp on supplies. You'll need sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and high-quality tape. Many cheap moving companies might cut corners here, but investing in good materials is cheaper than replacing broken goods.

The Layering Technique

Always line the bottom of your box with crumpled packing paper for cushioning. Wrap each fragile item individually in bubble wrap or paper. For plates, pack them vertically like records, not flat. This simple trick, used by cheap reliable movers everywhere, significantly reduces the risk of breakage.

Fill the Gaps

Movement is the enemy. Once your items are in the box, fill any empty spaces with packing peanuts or more paper. Shake the box gently; if you hear shifting, add more padding.

Label Clearly

Mark every box containing breakables as "FRAGILE" on multiple sides. This alerts your movers to handle these boxes with extra care. Even cheap long distance movers will appreciate the clear instruction and treat your items with the respect they deserve.
